About

Welcome to your home away from home! This guest house is private, with it's own entrance, and is attached to a main house. It sleeps 4, with 2 in the queen bed, 1 on the sofa, & 1 on the fold out mattress. We provide WiFi, toiletries, linens, clothes iron, hair dryer, full kitchen, beach essentials, coffee & tea. Watch waterfowl while sitting by the backyard creek, or go on an adventure to Folly Beach or downtown in just a few minutes' drive. Backyard is shared. No pets or service animals.

Good to know

Centrally located for your beach getaway, or business trip. James Island is close to everything, and very easy to get to. You will have the whole guest house to yourself, but the backyard is shared. We live nearby if you have any questions, or need anything. In addition to the bedroom, full bath, full kitchen, and living room, our backyard is a wonderful place to hang out. We have a creek, a garden and fruit trees, a gas grill, a hot tub, and a fire pit. So much to enjoy as you are waterfront. You are even welcome to fish in the waterway (catch & release), or use our kayaks for a jaunt down the estuary. We have a smart TV with many apps to enjoy.

Other Details to Note

No smoking anywhere on the property. No drugs or parties. Because there are shared walls, we ask that you respect quiet hours. (10pm-7am) We provide towels, linens, toiletries, tea and coffee. There is a creek behind our house. If you let your children into our backyard, please be aware that the creek is attached, and be water safe. We provide a bag of beach essentials, which includes beach towels, an umbrella, beach chairs (4), and sunscreen, which you are welcome to use during your stay. Does not include snorkeling gear, as Airbnb lists in their “beach essentials” description. No pets, other than certified Service Animals, with proof of service sent prior to check-in. Please note: there is a $50 fee for an early check in or late checkout. For late checkout without prior approval, the fee is $50/hour, or portion thereof.

House Rules

As you may guess, this rule was born out of experience. We ask that you leave the place as you found it: If you break something, please replace it. If there is extensive damage, or an item is broken, you will be responsible to pay for the cost of repair or replacement. This will be determined by a receipt for replacement of the damaged item, or an estimate from a local, licensed contractor for the price to repair the damage. By booking our place, you agree to pay for any damages you incur. Please park directly in front of the guest house, on the grass. Please do not park to the side of the house. No smoking or drugs We no longer allow pets, sorry. Early check-in, or late check-out requests (if we are able to accommodate) will be charged a $50 fee. Late checkout without communication will incur a fee of $50/hour, or portion thereof. Quiet Hours are 10pm-7am. We respectfully request that you remove shoes upon booking.

Neighborhood

It is centrally located on James Island, about 10 minutes from Downtown Charleston, 15 to Folly Beach, close to historical landmarks, restaurants, museums, plantations, and tons of fun things to do. The closest beach is about five minutes down the road. We are close to shops, museums, restaurants, and entertainment. There is a grocery store two blocks away (with a Starbucks inside). One thing to note: We are on a busy street. Please do not book if being on a busy street will bother you, as there is nothing we can do to change this, and bad reviews are unfair based on our location. Most of our negative reviews have been because of the busy street, which we cannot control. All we can do is be very clear about it, and request that because our guests know this before booking, that they do not leave a negative review based on something we cannot control or change. Thank you for your understanding with this. Most of our guests have given us glowing reviews "The Best Airbnb I've stayed in for my entire 3,000 mile road trip," etc. I promise you will love our place, including our peaceful and serene backyard. But if busy streets are an issue, please don't book our place.

Guest Access

You will have the entire guesthouse to yourself. It has a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, and dinette. You may also feel free to enjoy the back or front yard, which is shared with our other guests. We can only accommodate two guest vehicles. We give you a code to enter on the keypad a few days before you arrive. You can check in anytime after 4pm. We charge a $50 early check-in/late check-out fee, and can only guarantee we can accommodate it on the day of arrival/check out.

we were looking for a quick get away and Sarah's place was super comfortable. The yard and amenities were so cool and peaceful! We were outside of downtown but super close to everything definitely a great stay.

It was a great place to stay! Such a great location being close to a grocery store and both downtown and the beach! Sarah was an amazing host and had thought of everything! Her local recommendations were so helpful. She mentions in the description that the place is on a busy road and can be noisy (which it was), but was proactive with a sound machine. We could hear our neighbors, but again, the sound machine helped. It was pretty much exactly how she described. Our toddler appreciated the drawer of toys and books!

Clean and very cozy. Unfortunately I only got to stay one night as my wife was transported from MUSC to Grand Strand Myrtle on Saturday morning. I would recommend any couple this place for a great getaway as I want to return with my Bride one day. God bless this place and family.

I felt so at home here! Sarah is such a conscientious and considerate host, and the guest house is lovely: spotless and perfectly appointed, with so many thoughtful touches. I loved the convenience of the fully-outfitted kitchen, and although it was a little chilly to make use of the back yard during my stay, that space looked extremely inviting, too! Sarah has put so much attention into the details; she's truly done everything possible to make the house comfortable and inviting. (It's also a perfect spot for exploring the area. You can get downtown in just a few minutes!)

Thank you Sarah for hosting our stay. The location was convenient to all the attractions we visited. The celebration of our 50th anniversary where we got married was perfect. Visiting the Battery, Folly Beach and a carriage ride downtown Charleston were memorable. Coming back to your Airbnb offered clean and cozy accommodation. The hot tub was an added plus to our journey. Prompt communication was perfect. When back in Charleston again we would consider stay with you. Thank you again Sarah!

Find us

Uber or Lyft are your best bet if you don’t bring a vehicle. It is about a $12 Uber ride to downtown. Feel free to use our grass to turn your car around on. Being on a busy street, it’s easier to pull onto the street when facing forward.
